Community Guidelines

Last updated: April 3, 2026

Daydream is a constantly growing and thriving community made up of people passionate about movies and TV shows. In order to keep this a safe and welcoming space for everyone, we've curated a set of rules to clarify what we're expecting when you participate in a community like ours. These guidelines apply to all content across Daydream, such as reviews, lists, comments, profiles, notes and social links.

We apply these guidelines regardless of the story being discussed or the viewpoint being expressed. Moderation of content is not an endorsement of the story or a rejection of the poster's position, it is an enforcement of what the community features are for.

Anyone can report suspected behavior to the moderation team via the in-site reporting tool denoted by the flag icon. If a mod finds a violation against these guidelines, the content will be removed and a warning sent to the user. Repeated removals can lead to account suspension and/or termination based on the severity of the violation.

We welcome any feedback you have about these guidelines and if you have questions, please reach out via Discord or email.

1. Respect & Conduct

We expect all users to be courteous and respectful of others' opinions. You must not threaten, accuse, abuse, harass, or attack other users. Targeting other users will not be tolerated. Content that is offensive, unlawful, explicit, or graphic is subject to removal. This includes but is not limited to intolerance towards protected characteristics (race, age, disability, gender, religion, belief, sexual orientation, etc..), slurs, language that sexualizes minors, and other harmful rhetoric.

2. No Restricted Content

You must not link to or promote illegal content, illicit copyrighted material, content that violates the content policy we share with TMDB, or sources that exist to distribute such content. This applies regardless of whether the source is official or third-party.

3. Be Authentic

We encourage users to express themselves authentically and share their genuine opinions and experiences. Do not plagiarize anyone else's writing. Quotes should be sourced with a link where available. AI generated content is strictly prohibited as we want to promote real opinions by real people.

4. No Spoilers

You must mark any review that contains significant plot spoilers with the "Spoiler Warning" tag. You must not remove spoiler flags set by our moderators. List descriptions, list notes and comment threads must remain free of significant spoilers.

5. Stay On-Topic

Do not derail a review or list with out of context comments. Keep all content related to movies, series, and stories and free of 'meta content'. Meta content is content made to respond to another user, mock another review, comment on moderation decisions, comment on TMDB policies, respond to site policy changes, or that are otherwise about site discourse rather than about the stories themselves.

6. No Spam

Reviews that do not relate to the film or show being reviewed are subject to be removed. Reviews must not consist of only a link.

7. No Advertisements

Do not share links to external websites with the intention of gaining traffic from your content. The exception to this is if you're linking to your review about the story and you accompany it with a written summary.

8. Keep Reviews About the Story

A review should help other users understand what a movie or series is like and why you feel the way you do about it. This could be about the story itself, whether that is its narrative, design, themes, art, content, or overall experience. Or it can be about its creators, developers, publishers, production history, launch and/or marketing. Ratings are reserved for reviews that reflect the reviewer's own experience watching the content. Reviews that indicate the reviewer has not watched the content, either explicitly or by engaging only with surrounding topics rather than the story itself, may have their rating hidden. These reviews are welcome as commentary, but ratings should represent first-hand experience. Reviews that don't engage with the content or its topics at all will be removed. This includes 'meta content' (see section 5). Evading removal by wrapping 'meta content' inside an otherwise legitimate review is not allowed. Your review will be removed with a chance to revise it via an appeal.
